UnitedGREEN $1,000 Scholarships for Sustainability Research in our Area

“UnitedGREEN is offering three $1,000 scholarships to students engaged in sustainable research projects. Students conducting research in how to make the San Diego, Imperial County, and Tijuana region sustainable in the areas of food, energy, and water are encouraged to apply for this scholarship. Top entries will present their research at the March 3-4 “Forging a Sustainable Future” Symposium, display their work at the event, and publish it on the unitedgreen.org website.

Research entries must meet the following criteria:
– Original Work
– Contain actionable ideas
– Worthy of review by experts in the field
– Be able to be synopsized in a 5-minute presentation

Any student currently enrolled in a college or university in San Diego and Imperial Counties, and Baja California is encouraged to apply if eligible. Applications are due Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012 with full work meeting minimum criteria to be presented the week of Feb. 20-25, 2012. One prize will be awarded in each of the three areas: food, water, and energy. Presentations will be judged by a panel of experts in each of those fields. All final decisions are to be received by the Heartland Coalition Board. Research work remains the property of the student.
