F31 NRSA application information

July 12, 2010

For those of you getting ready to prepare a F31 application, here are some helpful hints on preparing the budget:

-Tuition and fees for 2010-2011 should be $10,843.50 (keep in mind that this is NOT including health insurance since NIH covers health insurance under the institutional allowance).  If you are requesting multiple years of funding, apply a 14% increase to each year after year 1.  Do not apply this 14% increase to stipend or institutional allowance; those are fixed amounts!

-Stipend and institutional allowance is a set amount determined by NIH.  You can find those amounts at http://grants2.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-10-047.html.
Stipend = $21,180
Institutional allowance = $4,200

For each year of funding you are requesting, please add tuition/fees (minus health insurance), stipend, and institutional allowance together for the total amount.

Best of luck!
